The JT-NM notes that the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), last week published its position with regard to "Adoption of an Open Discovery & Connection Protocol" as EBU R 152 (March 2019). The JT-NM further notes that the North American Broadcasting Association (NABA) published a report titled, NABA Media over IP Final Report (available for download here), on April 26, 2017, concluding, in part, "The NABA MoIP subcommittee made the consensus decision to support AMWA NMOS and to advocate its adoption".
This seems illustrate a preference in the user community for open, collaboratively developed technologies for discovery & registration of professional media devices, and an open approach to connection management. Furthermore, there is a call for automated configuration of media nodes through the adoption of JT-NM TR-1001-1, to reduce users workload when installing and maintaining SMPTE ST 2110-based media nodes.
The EBU document states a preference for AMWA NMOS IS-04, NMOS IS-05, and JT-NM TR-1001-1 as examples of such collaboratively developed approaches. JT-NM notes that it may be appropriate for it to expand the JT-NM Tested program to include these technologies as we look forward to our next events.
