Joint Task Force on Networked Media (JT-NM)

Why is JT-NM needed?

Convergence of Standards (image)
This slide answers the question, “Why is the JT-NM Coordination Group needed?”.

  1. Many organizations are working on the transition to IP technology.
  2. For example, to make SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS, all of these organizations worked together
  3. User requirements for IP came from AMWA, EBU and VSF
  4. JT-NM created the Reference Architecture document
  5. VSF created VSF TR-03 and VSF TR-04 based upon existing Standards from IEEE, SMPTE, IETF and AES
  6. VSF contributed that work to SMPTE, and SMPTE created ST 2110
  7. AMWA took the JT-NM Reference Architecture and in its NMOS group created AMWA IS-04 and AMWA IS-05
  8. AIMS provides advocacy and feedback from the manufacturers
  9. IABM provides education and advocacy
