Brief History
- Many years ago AMWA was the Advanced Authoring Format Association (AAF Association) in the year 2000
- Co-creators of the MXF file format along with our colleagues at the EBU and the SMPTE
- Creator of the Advanced File Format for editing

- Name changed to Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) in 2008
- New focus on workflow and software
- Continue support for file formats

Introduction to the Video Services Forum (VSF)
- VSF is an international association
- Three membership types
- Service providers, end users, manufacturers
- Focused on interoperability, quality metrics and education
- Domain is video networking technologies
- Began with AT&T company
- An informal video operator group inside AT&T
- People helping each other with special events
- AT&T was broken up into many companies in 1984
- Serious competition in the 1990s
- Competitors needed a place to
work together on technical issues
- VSF was founded in 1998
- First VidTrans conference held in 1999
- First VSF technical meetings held in 2001
- Technical work
- Code of Practice 3 (COP3) became first SMPTE ST 2022 documents (inherited from Pro-MPEG Forum)
- High Bit Rate Audio/Video (HBRAV group) became SMPTE ST 2022-6
- Studio Video over IP (SVIP group) TR-03 & 04 became
SMPTE ST 2110
- Hitless Protection group became SMPTE ST 2022-7
